Blog Three - Before The First Test

With our first testing session rapidly approaching it's been all hands on deck as we've continued to lay down the logic and replace our placeholder assets with our final designs. Our programmer had successfully implemented most of the logic for level one, and was preparing to expand into our boss fight. Our artist had finished most of the art assets for stage one as well, and even had the ability to go in and add some Easter eggs to the notice board and balloon mini game stand. Finally, our animator populated the world with NPC's that the player would eventually be able to speak with.

In a meeting, we had discussed what exactly we would be testing for in our first session as well as how we would track that information and store it for later revision. We agreed that one the more critical things to test for was player navigation and observing if players understood how to navigate the level, and initial tasks. To observe player behaviour, our team would request that testers live stream their game play with us, we would then record that footage to observe and make notes on. Players will also be asked to speak freely about how they were experiencing the game and to speak as though they were live streaming for an audience by sharing their thoughts and feelings on the game.

Between now and the first test, we continued our work on refining the first level that the testers would experience.
