Blog Six - Test Two
For test two we had prepared more of our art assets but also our boss fight ready for testing. While our boss wasn't able to show off various phases we were able to take the darts from the balloon mini game and take it into the boss arena to use as ammunition. Our original design was that the player would need to work out how to defeat the boss by using objects in the environment to use as weapons, in this case the darts. However this would later turn into more of an annoyance and would be changed.
During our second testing we again received a healthy mix of both positive and critical feedback, with a bit more emphasis on positive feedback. Our critical feedback included quality of life tweaks such as text boxes appearing over the noticeboard too frequently, additional level design tweaks like adding more lighting, and clarification such as buttons to control movement and player objective.
For our positive feedback there was again an emphasis on play testers enjoying our overall theme , interest in our environmental assets such as our noticeboard and NPC's but also players were pleasantly surprised to find our collectible plushies throughout the game, which helped cater to their desire for secrets and further exploration of the environment.
